PrimCut Director
Cut your dialogue to the script you paste in — or say “clean it up” and lose the fillers, false starts and dead air automatically.
What it does
Director works in two modes. Match my script: paste the script your video was recorded from, and Director transcribes your dialogue track, finds the takes that match, and cuts everything else — your first assembly, built straight from the page. Clean it up: no script needed; Director finds the fillers, false starts, repeated takes and long pauses and removes them, with profanity muting as an option.
Either way, nothing is applied blind. Every detected cut lands in a review screen first — jump to any range and play it, click individual words to keep or drop them, and watch the kept-vs-removed preview bar update live. What you see in the preview is exactly what gets applied, your manual picks always win, and Director duplicates the sequence before trimming.
Transcription runs offline and free with the built-in local engine. Optionally, plug in your own key for ElevenLabs, Deepgram or AssemblyAI — the cloud engines are better at catching every “um” verbatim. See key setup.
Key features
- Two modes — cut to a pasted script, or clean up fillers, false starts, repeated takes, silences and profanity with toggles for each.
- The Claude judgment pass — plug in your Anthropic key and Claude reads the transcript before anything is cut, so context survives: “I like this camera” isn't cut when you're removing filler “like”. You can even leave it a note about what the video is about.
- Review-first workflow — editable word chips, per-range playback, a kept-vs-removed preview bar, and adjustable padding. Your picks always win.
- Free local engine — transcription runs on your machine at no per-minute cost; cloud engines are optional, via your own keys.
- Privacy by design — when you do use a cloud engine, only a compressed audio track is sent. Your video never leaves your machine.
- Safe to apply — the sequence is duplicated before the trim, so the original is always one click away.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need any API keys to use Director?
No. The built-in local engine transcribes for free, offline. Keys are optional upgrades: ElevenLabs, Deepgram or AssemblyAI for transcription that catches every “um” verbatim, and Anthropic (Claude) for the context-aware cleanup pass.
What does the Claude pass actually add?
Judgment. Simple rules cut every “like” — including “I like this camera.” Claude reads the transcript, understands what the video is about (you can add a note), and decides which words are genuine filler. If it's unavailable, Director falls back to the standard cleanup automatically.
Does my video get uploaded?
Never. With the local engine nothing leaves your machine at all; with a cloud engine only a compressed audio track is sent — not your footage.
Can I override what it wants to cut?
Yes, and your choices always win. Click any word chip to keep or drop it, drag on the waveform, and adjust padding — the preview shows exactly what will apply before you commit, and the original sequence is kept.
