SFX Finder
Find the whoosh, impact, or riser you need — scrub it on the waveform, trim it, and drop it at the playhead. 100% CC0.
What it does
SFX Finder searches open sound libraries and returns only CC0 sounds — public-domain audio you can use in any project, commercial or not, with no attribution ever required. That's by design: if a sound shows up in your results, it's already cleared.
Every result card renders a real waveform — hover to audition, click to play, and drag the In/Out handles to trim the sound to just the hit you need. Then import to your project, or drop it straight onto the timeline at the playhead. The trim is non-destructive: the full sound is always kept, so you can re-trim it later in Premiere. Free, no account, no API key.
Key features
- 100% CC0 — every result is public-domain by construction. No license reading, no attribution lists, ever.
- Waveform preview — see the shape of the sound and audition it right on the card.
- Trim before you place — drag In/Out handles to isolate the exact hit, whoosh or tail you want.
- Non-destructive — the complete file is imported with your trim applied, so nothing is lost if you change your mind.
- Drop at the playhead — the sound lands exactly where your cut is, on a sensible track.
- Zero setup — free tool, no account, no key.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to credit the sound creators?
No. SFX Finder only returns CC0 (public domain) sounds, which require no attribution — for YouTube, client work, ads, anything.
Do I need an account or API key?
No. It's a free PrimCut tool and works out of the box with zero setup.
Can I use more of the sound later?
Yes. The trim is non-destructive — the full file is imported into your project with your In/Out applied, so you can extend or re-trim it in Premiere anytime.
Is there a search limit?
Very heavy searching can briefly hit a fair-use limit on the open library — if that happens, wait a minute and search again. Normal editing sessions never notice it.
